Knight Hack - page 2 of 4
The Crusaders had only 5 mounted knight units, but twice that many close ordered bow and/or spear foot units. These were supplemented by a couple small Byzantine Scout (Light Cavalry) units and a couple crossbow (loose ordered) crusader foot units. Finally, they had 7 Pilgrim units most of which were of poor morale and fighting ability. The Muslim attack was directed in 3 columns from the west. The southern most was the largest, but only had 2 Askari units and 1 Turkomen. However, because the fields between the woods and the table edge had been recently plowed, the terrain was more suitable for foot units. Seven (including a fanatical sword unit) began an attack against the Crusader line along the road (and buttressed with a 3 wagon lagger) Arrows began to fly as the lines closed within 12 inches of each other. |
