I Want to Build an Army

Ok, so you want to build an army. This is quite simple. A unit within any army is easily created. Figure out how many figures are in a typical unit. Then find in the rules the cost of each figure by formation type. Add plus one for each additional weapon. In our case above we have a line of 3 cohorts which equals 12 figures per unit. So we take 12 figures and multiply the number of figures times 3 for C class plus one for an additional weapon: This totals 4 points. Ok now we have 12 figures times 4 and get a subtotal of 48. To 48 add the formation value of 60 points and you will get a total unit value of 108 points. Not that hard, is it?

In this case we will be using Caesar's legions and his enemies the Celts in Gaul. Let's start with Caesar's army. Caesar will use 2 legions with auxilia or support units. These are presented below. Caesar has decided to place his legions in 3 lines: Acies Triplex. Remember each four figures represent a cohort of about 400 men-figure representation being 1:100.
