Caesar's Legionsby Philip J. Viverito Recently I began rebuilding my legions in the time of Caesar circa 52 B.C. So I painted up to the best of my poor ability for armies lots of people will touch in my demonstration games. With the hope of giving me a lot of room for different ways to game. By this I mean I want to achieve several things. First I want to show how the Roman Legions of Caesar's day tactically operated. So I would need figures mounted in both loose and close order. I know a lot of people don't get lots of what the rules do especially changing a unit's order from close to loose and then loose to close. This requires lots of figures. Which I have. Consequently when I painted up four legions I made two in close order and two in loose order. Each have identical shield patterns. This should reduce confusion when swapping units one order for the other. Here are my first four legions. Four more are ready to be painted.
