[Ptolemaic vessel]
With the Pharos in the background, a Ptolemaic vessel begins its landing attempt on the mole or causeway that leads to the lighthouse area.

[Lighthouse]
Bird's eye view of the lighthouse and its gatehouses. The Romans line the causeway or mole to prevent landings. Notice the drawbridge that stops water traffic when down.

[Attack on main gate]
Here the forces of King Ptolemy begin setting up for the attack on the main gate that leads to the causeway. Reports of the time say that Caesar was saved only by the hands of the gods. The Romans stand in front of the gate.
