The Sea Side

[back view]

Here is the Sea side view of the settlement. As mentioned the docks and wharfs have yet to be introducced to the town. At ConQuest I will include these. This is the least defensible side of the settlement as it has only the resident sips to guard the place from a seaward raid. You can see all of the interior buildings and back side of the ramparts. Notice the two end towers which mark the ends of each land side flank of the defenses.

The long ships are all resin casts from Old Glory. I have ten of these and will use them in my coming Scenarios. The longships would be manned if a signals from along the waterway leading to the settlement were sounded. Being some distance from the sea alert watchmen would give the alarm and the ships could be launched in a timely fashion.

[end towers]

The end towers give the entire layout a nice sense of cemetry. These are some of my favortie parts of the model. Notice too how the open tops of the ramparts are uncovered here. Grass has grown ontop of the dirt. It is possible that these may have been covered with planking.
