ConQuest LAX - page 2 of 5 Vikings at Hedeby Hedeby was an important trading center in Scandinavia circa 980 A.D. It was placed near the sea and could be reached by sailing down a narrow channel dotted with many sand spits. This was done so that any invader traveling by water would be slowed significantly by this watery path. Hopefully the defenders of the town would have plenty of time to prepare their defense of the town. In this scenario the invaders had landed forces up river to attack the town by land while the remaining forces took to ship and would attack by the water side of the town. The defenders would have to be activated to awake and defend their town. All would be done on random rolls of a D-10 die. It's always been a fun scenario.
This set up was very similar to the one I had put on display at Fall In! 2005. The main difference being that I enlarged the entire piece adding walls, towers and buildings. I believe this set up took up some 16 running feet in length with a width of 5 feet. You can see the difference in the next section. |
