Here is a shot of the attacking fleet drawing up to land it's hordes of Norse warriors.

The defenders of the town would roll a D-10 each turn for each vessel as they got within a certain distance of the shore. Any even number would activate each unit as the vessels got near.

As these events transpired a land force drew near the land side defenses of the own. The water was a simple shiney blue colored cloth.
