The Sea Side Two And a Final Comment

[setup]

The Byrsa hill and citadel can be seen much better here. The citadel will eventually have a temple and some more defensive works.

The interior buildings will also be enhanced and increased in numbers.

The civil harbor's mouth can be seen here just to the left. It is long and narrow. The entrance could be closed by pulling a chain across the entrance. During the siege the Romans launched the only successful assaults against the seaward side of the city. The Carthaginians actually broke a hole in the wall of the Military harbor and sailed out from here. The Romans were able to destroy this flotila.

Initially I was going to add photos of Jim Birdseye and Paul Elkin here however on second thought I have decided to add them to the list of Evocati. So for more on these two guys visit the Evocati site page.

To view each page you can pull your browser left and right, up and down and this will properly adjust the text round the photos.
