After Action Report Siege of Augusta 2007 - page 7 of 10 The Defenses and Defense Formations
Perhaps you can better view the first defense here. The Carthaginians are arrayed closest to the their defenses. In fact they are atop the berm defense. There may have been a palisade running along the top of the berm we are not sure though. The Carthaginian objective in the scenario is to make the Romans pay for every inch of the berm. There are units coming out of the gates further up in the picture. The Carthaginians took up a typical Phalanx formation. At Cold Wars I will permit balistae fire from the thrid set of walls. In this scenario I did not. The Roman scenario objective is to take the berm so they can get their siege engines closer to the walls. TheRomans are arrayed in their typical Manipular system. Three lines with the velites in advance of the three main lines of Romans and Roman Allies legions. Cavalry is on the flanks. You will see the Roman deployment in later photos. |
