After Action Report Siege of Augusta 2007 - page 8 of 10 The Deployment
The players push their armies together. The Carthaginians were deployed in phalanx. Between each phalanx taxis (regiment) were units of the few remaining Carthaginian allies and towns folk who were recruited to defend the city. You can see how the walls of the remaining defenses tower over the action. In the center of the defensive walls was the citadel. The Byrsa hill area. This area reach from the third wall to the harbor area. Not seen in this view. Masses of Romans in their manipular formations are assaulting the Carthaginian line. Notice that the Carthaginain balistae are placed behind the walls. There would be more placed in the towers. |
