Historicon 2007 Events - page 6 of 6
A cohort of twelve figures is marching to the praetorium to receive orders. The legatus's servants have his horse read to go (to the right). The praetorium area also housed tents that served as a legion treasury, hosptial, and chapel. There would also be cooking areas and a wagon park.
Note the grassy rampart wall facings. This hopefully shows that the walls of the rampart are of sod blocks or bricks. The wicker work has the mud falling off. Something I think would happen in real winter conditions. The battle for the scenario will be occur outside the camp. As Allan Fleming so often reminded me, Let's have a real battle instead of a siege. I have to agree with him. So for that reason I use models like this and Carthage as a back drop rather than the focus of my scenarios. In this way I get to make a building and at the same time provide players with a hopefully pleasant game board. Then too historical gamng is supposed to have some educational value too. Buildings add the flavor of the period. Finally I will be adding the QRS for this Scenario in the Players Aids section later this week. Be sure to stop by and take a look at this game and let me know if you like what you see. |
