Classical Hack Ancient Warfare

Historicon 2008 - page 7 of 9

Celts Against Celts

Classical Hack is always the most fun when playing things like elephant armies or as in this case Celts against Celts. Tribal armies are a hoote! In this case the battle scenario was in Britain before the Roman Invasion of 43 B.C. The Celts had tons of chariots and the players really got to use the great tactics of chariot warfare of the Celts. The chariots skirmished and when done dismounted and charged home on foot. The players really caught on to chariot warfare as it really was fought. Who won? Why the Celts.

The best part of the game was the interaction and laughs we all had. I got to see Ed Backer (unfortunately Richard Kolbacher also a First Edition co-writer could not attend) who co-wrote the First Editions of Classical Hack and Kngiht Hack. Then there are Paul Forgette, Gary Rich, Tim Bennett and Bob Sillars who helped with all the Hack Rules in test play. Let me not forget Bob Hark also from Buffalo and his son Jon (not shown). They came all the from Buffalo to see me! The little guy on the right is Mac Backer (Ed's little boy!) Andrew and Tresa are regular Hackers and played in many of the Hack games which were put on.
