Caesar Game

Besides the Last Castro Game I also put on a Caesar game. Caesar was advancing with several legions in a hollow square. The baggage train was in the middle guarded on each flank with a few units of German cavalry and a legion with auxilia missile units. The front was guarded with a legion, balistae and auxilia. The idea was to push through the offending army of Gauls in order to reach Alesia.

The Gauls had the job of stopping Caesar from advancing to prevent Alesia from becoming besieged by Caesar. The Gauls had cavalry and infantry to do the job. They were successful. On the flanks the dreaded German cavalry were either slow to charge (on the Roman right) or blown before the legions could win the day. The Roman right was bleed white as the Germans performed poorly due to the slows. The Romans pushed too many units to the right flank eventually the center discintigrated. The left did well with the cavalry but the Roman left proved insufficient to the task; they did well but ran out of Romans. A bad day for Caesar! But all seemed to have fun.
