My Sea People Army - page 5 of 5
Of all the people the Sea People ran into only the Egyptians were able to withstand their onslaught. As stated the Sea People lacked any great long range (bow or sling) weapons and this proved their undoing. However, the Sea People allied themselves to Egypt's long time enemy the Libyans. shown above. In the first image on page one of this section I show the Libyan allies on the right side. The Libyans had archers and these provided the Sea People some counter balance to the Egyptians. Like the Sea People the Libyans were a tribal people. Again I like to use different size units of Libyans to depict this. For the Libyans I use 6, 9 and 12 figure units. These units I place on the flanks and front of the Sea People units. They can be in open or loose order.
The Libyans provided the Sea People with the much needed long range missile units their own army lacked. Here I have depicted them in loose order. The Libyan archers were probably considerably less effective against those of the Egyptian Army. None-the-less they were not to be trifled with. They could be unexpected effective. Whether in open or loose order they fulfilled the the skirmish ability the Sea People lacked. Unlike the Sea People these were not terribly good in a stand up fight or melee. In fact if charged they must evade being armed missile armed only. I am still working on javelinmen inopen order. These could melee in the right circumstances.
