Libyans Bronze-Age Army Overview - page 5 of 5

Notes:

Note 1: Thanks to Guy Halsall for this whole train of thought, expressed for a different period, but none the less quite accurate for Bronze Age

Note 2: Armies of the Ancient Near East, Stillman and Tallis, p 13

Note 3: Ancient Armies of the Middle East, Osprey, T Wise

Note 4: Really a specific tribe of Berbers, abbreviated by the Egyptians as "Ma"; also known as the Qeheq

Note 5: The technical designation for this document is Papyrus British Museum 9999. At 41 metres long, it is the longest papyrus ever found. It is also "the longest known papyrus from Egypt, with some 1,500 lines of text." It was found in a tomb across the Nile from Luxor, and was orriginally purchased by collector Anthony Harris (1790–1869) in 1855; it entered the collection of the British Museum in 1872.)

Note 6: Those of Sahure at Abusir and Pepi II at Saqqara, as well as the Late Period temple of Taharqa at Kawa

Note 7: That was recorded as 120,000 captives, but we tend to discount these old numbers by a factor of ten

Note 8: There are some surprisingly good sources of info from the Egyptian Travel people

Note 9: Stillman and Tallis, p 13.

Note 10: 15mm figure references: figures
