Classical Hack Ancient Warfare

My Sea People Army

Cold Wars 2008 will is promising to be an exciting convention as usual. In preparation for doing a Holy Hack: Hacking By The Book Second Edition game I have finished my Sea People Army-list number 11; page 42. You should remember not to confuse Sea Peoples with the Philistines (army or Q.R.S. list14; page 45). While the Sea People may be the ethnic source for the Philistines they are not the same. If you want Sea People to use or have chariots in their army I would strongly suggest using Philistines. I cannot express enough to players to play in period. Now this proves difficult sometimes as the armies (historically) plainly suck. For this reason I put a lot of emphysis on terrain, leadership (which adds to a morale bonus) and tactics. Finally I hope to describe not only on how to build various armies using Holy Hack but how to win with armies that appear to be over matched. As always if you think that modifiers for melee, morale or shooting should be changed or even dropped, do so. How many times have you traveled to conventions using tournament rules and found adjustments to the tournament style of play-droping this rule or changing that rule. Yes changes from lists to rules. The Holy Hack rules are made to be adjusted too.

Above is my general layout for a Sea People army (to view open it in your browser and then hit the back button to return to the page). From left to right you see the core of the army arrayed in units of 12 figures each. On the right are the Libyan allies which the Sea People recruited for their invasion of Egypt. Note that all are arranged in loose order. To the rear is the army baggage train and the camp tents. I have one tent for each command. The tents are for fun more than play. As part of the back drop so to speak. I will detail things as I go along.
