Po Valley Celts vs. RomansA Classical Hack Battle Reportby Phil Viverito 5/11/2000 Northern Italy, pre Cannae. Hannibal is recruiting the Po Valley Celts, Rome, seeing the danger in this send north a Consul and a single legion to attack those Celtic Tribes who have agreed to join Hannibal before they meet up with his main force. Hannibal, learning of the plan sends one of his generals and a small Carthaginian army to help. The Celts have planned to ambush the Romans as they move north along a road, but haven't told the Carthaginians! The Romans nearing the site of the ambush, now involving two tribes, scout the approaching Carthaginian force, which mainly consists of cavalry. They deploy into their traditional 3 lines and await the advancing Carthaginians. Seeing their ambush ruined the Celts spring from hiding in the hills and the woods at the foot of the hills and sweep toward the flank of the Legion. Victory Conditions:Carthaginians - Rout Romans whilst Celts still remain on the field - its a morale thing. Romans - Rout the Celts, or at least make them quit the field, teach them not to side against Rome. Celts - Kill the Romans! Special Rules:
