The Limit of Empire Scenario

Barbarian Briefing

It is early spring on the frontier of the Roman Empire. The Emperor Hadrian had recently commissioned a wall to stretch from the Solway, in the west, to the Tyne in the east. The wall bisects your traditional tribal lands.

The Roman garrison allowed free right of passage across the wall to the tribes of your confederation. This was deemed as acceptable to the Tribal chiefs. This agreement had led to a pacification of the frontier for the previous twelve months.

However, over the winter the Romans have erected a temple on land sacred to your people. The Roman garrison commander, Marcus Gracius, plans to dedicate the temple to Jove tomorrow. This affront to your ancestors cannot go unpunished. It is time to reclaim the tribal lands from the oppressor.

The tribes are ready. It is time to strike. The temple must be destroyed.

You have already struck the first blow for freedom. A Roman column has been attacked. Dead and wounded litter the battlefield. The High Priest has ordered the offering of the wounded to the gods…..purified by fire.
