Using Tribals In Classical Hack - page 4 of 7 A Second Word
Here I have mounted my Celts three figures per stand. This is called Lmi in the rules. Notice the large shields, bare chests, pants and the long sword. The Celts like most tribal people relied on a swift charge. The Celts wore less armor inorder to close with the enemy quickly. They probably felt that a fierce charge would push all enemies into shock making them easy victims. In the rules tribal units which do not inflict equal or more casualties in melee will have to break off even if they do not fail morale for losing melee. You should also remember that Celts must be in dense formations; almost columns. Their units should be deeper than they are wide. This means that they will melee and shoot the first rank full and half the second rank figures. Always round up when counting figures in the rear ranks. Yes we fight and shoot figure for figure.
Here are some more Celtic types. Sometimes even the foot units would wear mail shirts and helmets, sometimes not. |
